Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the B&H Bild Expo—and wow, what an inspiring experience it was! From cutting-edge gear to eye-opening presentations, it was truly a photographer’s dream come to life. The expo was packed with opportunities to explore the latest in camera tech, test out new equipment, and connect with fellow creatives who share the same passion for visual storytelling. From hands-on demos to thought-provoking panels led by industry leaders, every moment sparked new ideas and creative energy. And yes—there were definitely a few must-have items that made their way onto (and off of) my wishlist!

Behind the Name: A Brief History of B&H
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with B&H, let me introduce you to one of the most iconic names in the world of photography and videography. B&H Photo and Video, based in New York City, has been a trusted resource for photographers, videographers, and content creators since 1973. What started as a small storefront run by husband-and-wife team Blimie and Herman (hence the name B&H) quickly grew into the go-to destination for professionals and hobbyists alike.
Over the decades, B&H built a stellar reputation not only for carrying a massive selection of the latest gear, but also for its knowledgeable staff and unmatched customer service. Whether you’re shopping in-store at their legendary Manhattan superstore or browsing online, B&H has become synonymous with quality, reliability, and innovation in the photo and video industry.
Attending the B&H Bild Expo was like stepping into the heart of this legacy—a place where passion for the craft meets cutting-edge technology and community.

Getting There: Navigating the Concrete Jungle
New York City is always buzzing, but with the B&H Bild Expo happening at the Javits Center, I knew it would be even busier than usual. To avoid the stress of driving and parking in Manhattan, I opted to take the Martz Bus. It was a smart choice—no traffic headaches, no overpriced garages, just a smooth ride into the city.
Since it was a Tuesday morning, the bus was filled mostly with quiet commuters, making the ride peaceful and uneventful. We arrived at Port Authority with no issues, and as expected, the moment I stepped outside, the city’s energy hit full force. People were everywhere—rushing, weaving, and living the classic New York hustle.
From there, it was just a quick taxi ride to the Javits Center. The excitement built with every block as I got closer to the expo, ready to dive into a day filled with gear, learning, and creative inspiration.

Quick and Seamless: Checking In Like a Pro
B&H truly knows how to make the check-in process smooth and stress-free. Attendees had the option to pick up their badges ahead of time on Sunday or Monday, or on the day of the event itself. Naturally, I chose to get mine the morning of—and I’m happy to report it couldn’t have been easier.
As soon as I walked in, a friendly B&H staff member pointed me in the right direction. With a quick scan of my QR code and a flash of my ID, my badge was printed and ready to go in a matter of seconds. No long lines, no confusion—just a fast, organized system that let me dive straight into the expo without missing a beat.

Vendors, Swag, and Gear Galore!
Now for the fun part—the vendors! Every photography and videography brand you could possibly think of was there, and then some. From industry giants like Canon, Nikon, and Sony to trusted accessory brands like Manfrotto, SanDisk, and Tamron, the expo floor was packed with booths showcasing the latest gear, tools, and technology.
Walking the show floor felt like stepping into a photographer’s playground. You could get hands-on with new cameras, test out lighting equipment, try out tripods, and even compare different lens types side by side. There was something for every creative—whether you’re a portrait artist, filmmaker, drone pilot, or macro enthusiast.
And let’s not forget the expo perks! B&H and their partners went above and beyond with giveaways and swag. SanDisk offered a free branded bag if you snapped a photo of their booth and posted it on social media. Nikon handed out hats in exchange for a quick survey. Evoto was giving away free presets just for taking a photo with one of their reps. By the end of the day, I was carrying multiple bags filled with goodies—definitely a highlight!
One of the most convenient features? You could purchase gear right from the expo floor. B&H had on-site checkout stations where you could complete your order, and then either pick it up at their flagship store via shuttle or have it shipped straight to your door.
In addition to gear demos, several booths offered unique photo opportunities. Live models were set up in creative scenes to test cameras and lighting in action, and the macro photography section had detailed, interactive setups where you could play with lenses and compositions. It was the perfect mix of hands-on learning and gear exploration.

All Aboard to Photographer Paradise: Visiting the B&H SuperStore
One of the best perks of the expo was the free shuttle service to the legendary B&H SuperStore—and I couldn’t pass up the chance to experience it for the very first time. The shuttle was smooth, quick, and a perfect way to rest my feet while making my way to what felt like the photography equivalent of Santa’s workshop.
Walking into the B&H store was truly something special. It’s not just a retail space—it’s an experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a sense of wonder and excitement. The layout is incredibly organized, with each section dedicated to a different aspect of photo, video, audio, and tech gear. Whether you’re looking for your dream lens, a new lighting setup, or the tiniest camera accessory, it’s all right there—beautifully displayed and easy to navigate.
But the real magic? The conveyor belt system. Like something straight out of a movie, boxes quietly travel along tracks overhead, shuttling orders from one department to another behind the scenes. By the time you reach the checkout counter, your chosen gear is already prepped and ready for pickup. It’s smooth, efficient, and honestly pretty mesmerizing to watch.
Being in the store after the expo felt like the perfect conclusion to an already inspiring day. Seeing where all the B&H magic happens gave me a whole new appreciation for how much they do for the creative community. It’s definitely a must-visit destination for any photographer or videographer passing through New York City.

Better Together: Sharing the Expo Experience with Friends
One of the things that made the day even more special was being able to share it with friends—both old and new. I was lucky enough to spend most of the day alongside some dear friends who share my love for photography, and I also had the chance to meet a few fellow creatives along the way.
There’s something truly magical about experiencing an event like the B&H Bild Expo with people who understand your passion. Whether we were geeking out over new gear, swapping tips, or just cracking up over inside jokes and caffeine-fueled adventures, the entire day felt more vibrant and meaningful.
Walking the expo floor and testing out gear together made the experience even richer. These shared moments—full of laughter, inspiration, and a whole lot of nerdy excitement—are what I’ll treasure most when I look back on the day.
It wasn’t just about the products or the presentations. It was about the connections, the conversations, and the joy of being surrounded by people who get it. I walked away with new memories, fresh inspiration, and a deeper sense of community. And that, more than anything, made the expo unforgettable.

A Quick Detour: Hudson Yards & The Vessel
Of course, I couldn’t leave NYC without making a quick stop at Hudson Yards to take in one of the city’s most striking landmarks—The Vessel. After a day surrounded by creative energy at the expo, it felt only right to end the adventure with a dose of architectural inspiration.
The Vessel is truly a sight to behold. Its honeycomb-like design and gleaming copper finish stand tall against the city skyline, and while photos are impressive, nothing compares to seeing it in person. The scale, symmetry, and detail are breathtaking—it’s a photographer’s dream and a powerful reminder of how art and design intersect in every corner of New York.
Even though access to the top levels has changed in recent years, just standing beneath it and walking the surrounding area at Hudson Yards is worth the visit. Between the modern buildings, open spaces, and city views, it was the perfect way to wind down the day and reflect on everything I’d experienced.
Sometimes it’s these unplanned little detours that add the most magic to the journey—and this one definitely did.

Until Next Time, B&H!
Will I attend the next B&H Bild Expo? You better believe it! After such an inspiring, energizing, and all-around unforgettable experience, I’m already counting down the days—even if I have to wait two years to do it all again. (Yes, the expo only happens every other year, which makes it all the more special.)
From the moment I arrived to the last snapshot at Hudson Yards, the entire day was filled with creativity, learning, laughter, and connection. Whether it was testing out the newest gear, chatting with fellow photographers, or just soaking in the energy of a space made for visual storytellers, the B&H Expo delivered on every level.
Events like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place—it’s not just about the equipment or the techniques. It’s about the people, the passion, and the ongoing journey of growth and inspiration.
If you’re a photographer, filmmaker, content creator, or even just someone curious about the craft, I highly recommend making the trip. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, the B&H Bild Expo has a way of making you feel like you belong.
Here’s to more moments behind the lens—and to the next B&H adventure in 2027!
