Studio R Photography offers thoughtfully curated classes for photographers at every stage. Each class blends technical skill with creative vision, focusing not just on how to use your camera—but how to tell a story through it. Lessons are built around real-world application, helping students understand why an image works, not just how it’s captured.

Our classes are welcoming, supportive, and hands-on, designed for hobbyists, aspiring professionals, and creatives looking to grow their confidence behind the lens. Whether you’re learning the fundamentals, refining your style, or practicing in real-life shooting environments, each class is intentionally paced to encourage questions, creativity, and growth. At Studio R, learning is collaborative, encouraging, and always rooted in storytelling.

Do I need prior experience to take a class?

Not at all. Classes are designed for photographers at various stages, and each class listing notes whether it’s beginner-friendly or best suited for those with some experience. Camera 101 is perfect for beginners, while other classes build on foundational skills.

What type of camera do I need?

A DSLR or mirrorless camera is recommended for most classes. For Camera 101 and on-location practice sessions, you’ll want a camera that allows manual settings. Specific gear requirements (if any) will be shared before class.

Are classes hands-on or lecture-based?

Classes are hands-on and interactive. While there is guided instruction, you’ll also have time to practice, ask questions, and apply what you’re learning in real time.

How large are class sizes?

Class sizes are intentionally kept small to allow for individual attention, questions, and personalized guidance.

What should I bring to class?

You’ll typically need your camera, fully charged batteries, memory cards, and a willingness to learn. Any additional materials or prep details will be shared ahead of time.

Are classes held in the studio or on location?

Most classes take place in the Studio R studio. On-location practice sessions and select workshops are held outdoors or at designated locations and will be clearly noted in advance.

Do you offer private or one-on-one instruction?

Yes. Private instruction and small group sessions may be available upon request. These are customized to your goals and skill level.

Is the FAA Drone Prep class for beginners?

Yes. The FAA Drone Prep class is designed to prepare students for the Part 107 exam and does not require prior drone certification. It’s ideal for photographers and creatives looking to fly legally and professionally.

Are class fees refundable?

Due to limited class sizes, class fees are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, credit may be applied to a future class at Studio R’s discretion.

How do I register for a class?

Do I need to pay in full to reserve my spot?
